Character and individuality alongside industrial heritage.
Alongside delivering student accommodation across the four buildings at Luneside, we were also commissioned by the client to undertake the interior design of the ground-floor communal spaces.

These areas were conceived as active social hubs for the student community, adopting a clean and playful industrial aesthetic that complements the architectural language of the wider development.
To bring character and individuality to the interiors, we collaborated with local artists to introduce a series of bespoke wall murals, adding colour, identity and a connection to Lancaster’s creative community. A range of flexible spaces were incorporated to support different patterns of student life, including quiet study areas, informal meeting rooms and relaxed breakout zones. Window bench seating was carefully positioned to overlook the surrounding landscape design, creating comfortable places to study, meet or pause while maintaining a visual connection to the parkland setting beyond.
Together these elements create a lively and adaptable ground-floor environment that supports both social interaction and moments of retreat within the student neighbourhood.
Exposed materials, robust finishes and a restrained palette were paired with contemporary detailing to create spaces that feel both authentic to the site’s industrial heritage and welcoming for everyday student use.
