Designing a purpose built brewery at MediaCityUK
Steel, has for decades offered the possibility of shaping cities quickly and efficiently, Most of Salford Quays was built from Bricks, Mortal and Steel, enabling rapid expansion into urban peripheries and the construction of large spanning warehouses.

Today, emerging timber technologies offer similar if not greater opportunities through engineered timber, which combine structural performance with lower environmental impact and new architectural possibilities. Using this approach as a starting point, we were approached by Seven Bro7hers Brewing Co to design a purpose built brewery at MediaCityUK.
The proposal brings together brewing, distilling and hospitality within a single future warehouse. The site accommodates a purpose built brewery and gin distillery alongside a vibrant food hall, allowing visitors to experience both production and social spaces within the same building. A mezzanine level overlooks the brewing hall, with views directly into the production process while also opening out toward Salford Quays. Rather than a traditional beer garden, the design takes advantage of the nearby waterfront landscape with a Beach Beer Garden.
